Lots of new stuff

It is either a good thing or a bad thing that I just get to posting much news about what's going on at Ivy Brambles. The truth is that I have been just too busy with shows and getting all the new products and patterns ready for the growing number of customers. Hopefully this year will see us getting a portal up for our stores so they can order more efficiently. Just need to get to it. anyway for those of you wondering what is new (and who didn't just look on the website because I do keep that up to date) we have a whole lot.

For starters we could not have anticipated how well Romantica would have been received by the lace knitters of the world. Well we knew it was fabulous, that's why we have it, but for a lace yarn it has almost no vices. It blocks great, is super soft, makes great garments, is easy to work with, doesn't break easily (oh so important for lace work) and is easy to wind without tangling (at least compared to other lace yarns). We now have shawlette patterns available for this yarn too.

For those wanting something with more substance we introduced Tornado. This super chunky yarn knits on size 11 needles and is just simply fun to work with. Takes color spectacularly, is very soft, knits fast and works up like a dream. We even have a lace shrug pattern for it!

Tornado is a thick and thin yarn resembling a homespun yarn. It has generous yardage taking one skein for a scarf and two for a shrug.

Two new yarns this summer are Silky Merino Light (which might be my most favorite yarn of all time) and Bamboo Silk Sock. These yarns are also fabulous for shawlettes as well as being great for garments and other projects. Both have great yardage and represent a great value. Silky Merino Light is super soft and silky. Unlike other silk and wool blends this one uses fine merino and mulberry silk and is spun in a plied yarn that won't halo easily as so many silk and wool blends tend to. The Bamboo Silk Sock is a super soft sock yarn with the strength and silkiness of silk and bamboo and the washable properties of superwash merino.

New Patterns, New Yarns

Two new patterns for Romantica this year, both are proving popular with knitters around the world. First the Spiral Celtic Knot, pictured above. It takes two skeins of our Romantica Merino Laceweight Yarn to make this spectacular shawl. Shown above in Night Sky colorway. If that wasn't enough pictured below is the breath taking Bayou Butterfly shawl in our Bluebell Woods colorway. This gorgeous shawl is nearly six feet across and takes just two skeins of Romantica Lace.

It is the season for hats. Pictured above is our new Roundabout Rib hat, made from just one skein of our Superwash Worsted weight yarn. This hat is shown in our Holly colorway. Pictured below is the Easy Watchman Cap in our brand new Bulky Superwash yarn. If you want a really quick project this one knits up fast using just one skein of our Superwash Bulky and shown in the Autumn Flame colorway.
You don't knit? Below is the Loo-Strife Crochet Hat. Made with less than one skein of our Sockscene sock yarn, shown in one of our newer colors, Dark Nebula.
Check out our web site for new colors in Romantica, Superwash Worsted and Superwash Bulky yarns. We are adding new patterns every month so be sure to check back soon.

Romantica, hot for 2010!

Hot for 2010 was our new Romantica yarn, now available in 38 colors and growing. The latest additions are some of the original variagated colorways and also some new ones, added earlier this year as sock yarn colors.

A top pick for lace enthusiats is the Halo Pave shawl, which uses just one skein of Romantica and is shown in the most popular color Autumn Flame. This shawl is not terribly difficult, the center panel being knit and then the border being added later. This keeps the pattern work straight forward and results in a garment that has superior drape.

For those looking for a less challenging project the Sunrise At The Beach shawl utilises the color changes in the variaged colorways to stunning effect. Shown in the Sunrise colorway this shawl uses less than one skein and can be finished fairly quickly.

Our newest variageted colorways, also available in SockScene, are Hydrangea, Deep Sea, Wildflowers and Dark Nebula. These colors have been very popular this year and we expect them to continue to be for 2011.

Look out for new patterns coming in 2011.

Lots of new stuff for the New Year. Firstly we have a new 100% Cashmere, available in 2-ply and 4-ply, in a so, so soft 2 oz skeins, in 13 solid colorways. The 2-ply is fingering weight and 400 yards per skein, and the 4 ply is DK weight and 200 yards. Both at the incredible price of $29.95 for 100% Mongolian Cashmere. Wow!

All new, all fantastically hand dyed in our unique colorways, and all so soft, is our new Romantica Merino Lace Yarn, 100% Superwash, Super Fine Micron Merino wool, 1000 yards and 4 oz hanks. Look to see new patterns soon for this wonderful yarn. We are already sold out for 2009 but have more on order for January 2010.

Great new patterns (see our website for a complete list) featuring hot new designs from up and coming designer Patti Waters, like the Arrow Head socks in our Sockscene colorway Wild Blackberries, always a favorite.

The Waters Scarf and Mitts pattern by Patti Waters features an interesting ripple effect and is knit lengthwise on circular needles. A great holiday gift that is sure to please knit in Bluebell Woods colorway in our Superwash Worsted Yarn. The scarf and mitts each take just one skein.
Finally from Patti is the Swarly Hat (I must ask her what swarly means if anything) This is knit in two colors of our Superwash Worsted, as pictured in one of our new colorways Night Sky, with accent colors in Grand Canyon.
